Subject: Confused and WorriedQUESTION: I was in a relationship with a man I didn't know very well. Then a while after I broke up with him I heard a rumor that he had HIV. Well I was a virgin when we met. We never had intercourse, and I never came into contact with his penis. But we did do things like kissing and I let him go down on me. Since he moved out of state shortly after we broke up I can't exactly ask him if the rumor is true. Anyway my question is if I am at risk from what we did. I am not sure if I could have contracted HIV from him though oral sex if I did not go down on him. Or if I could be at risk if he had touched himself and then touched me. I don't know if this happened, cause I was very shy and not as observant as I maybe should have been. It has been on my mind and I am hoping you can shed some light on my concerns. REPLY: I would not be too concerned about this. Performing oral sex on you was low-risk behaviour, and kissing is even lower. However, for your own peace of mind and just in case anything was transmitted, I suggest that you go for an HIV test.
