Subject: Pregnancy and LubeQUESTION: Not sure if you can help. On a pregnancy web site that I have been reading it says to avoid using a lube because it can interfere with getting pregnant. I am hoping that is not really true since I know for sure without lube I am not getting pregnant because there will be not sex....we use ky basic issue stuff. Any feedback or help would be great. We have been without BC for almost a year but not really trying that long. We were just leaving it to the fates, I am getting frustrated with the fates...I would like to see results sooner rather than later...the clock is ticking and I will be 35 this year. If lube is out of the question do you have any suggestions as to what we could use. REPLY: Millions of women use lube and still manage to conceive, although there may be some truth to its minor effect on sperm delivery. Considering your age and frustrated efforts so far, I think it's time to take more concrete action. Your partner should have a fertility test first. Always simple to test the male. Then, you may have to be tested. Talk with your doctor, but I think you need a pro-active approach now. One thing that does aid conception is to have sex in the missionary position with your hips elevated by pillows. Then, after he ejaculates, he withdraws, and you lie there for 10 minutes letting all the sperm run "downhill" inside you. No harm in trying that, too. - KT . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
