Subject: Extra Anus Skin

QUESTION:

I have always been a little self conscious about my anus. I have extra skin that is always there - the only time it disappears is shortly after anal sex. All of my skin around my vagina and anus seem to be quite a bit darker as well. Any pictures that I have seen of other womens anus's - they dont seem to have any extra skin outside. It seems to be all inside with no extra dark skin around. Is this common or is it just one of my individual flaws. I am unable to find any medical answers to this question.

REPLY:

It is actually normal for the skin pigment around the genitals and anus to be darker. That is not unusual. All women are different and there is a wide variety of how a vagina, clitoris, or anus looks. My guess is your extra skin is just a harmless feature of your individual anatomy, but you could ask your doctor if you're concerned.
